Well, I did like the guidance from the watercolor book mixed with the decisions made switching the medium from watercolor to oil, so I'm going to try another painting from the "How to Watercolor" book.
It’s remarkable to me that this painting was done with watercolors. Walter Foster is pretty stingy with the guidance on this one.
That's a lot of detail and I am very impressed that he did it in watercolor! (and also not surprised that he can't really say *how* he did it)
May it be easier in oils!

The similarities in color between the background and iris are very telling. I think thats a lot of it. Also there are opaque yellows and transparent yellows, and that is a very transparent yellow.
