My back went halfway out last Thursday.
Gary, of course, has the lock on illness because of the horrific rash. I have had enough of saying “you poor guy” for the rest of my life. That, plus my sore back led to the following exchange.
Gary (Working up some sympathy from me): "I feel so bad, and there’s nothing I can do."
Me (mocking): “'I feel so bad, and there’s wah-wah mewl mee meeww.'”
Gary: “I’m sorry, I don't understand what you mean by, ‘There’s wah-wah mewl mee meeww.”
And I tried to repeat it, but I couldn’t because I was laughing too hard.
It is true he may not be able to do anything about the soreness directly, but he *can* do all the lifting and taking-garbage-out and other things that make sore backs extra-cranky...
That said: feeling miserable is not a zero-sum game, you can both be miserable together. (but ALSO my feelings on this are partially due to having relatively few people in my life who demand "you poor thing" from me on a regular basis)(and also there are definitely people who, while I do feel sorry for them, get a LOOK if they start implying that no one else has ever experienced a misery like unto what they are experiencing *when that particular misery is something that is a part of my daily life* - like, sure, buddy, I've had more time to adapt to this whereas it's new and unpleasant to you but don't even try for the "and no one understaaaaands" thing; you are not a unique and special flower in that way)(admittedly, each personality has shades of stuff such that particular things drive Person A absolutely bonkers and are mildly annoying to Person B, but STILL. You're saying you don't like having to cope with [symptom] for 5 hours a week [Sure! fair! it's unpleasant!]... *and* no one could possibly understand, and you're saying this *to the person who is coping with that symptom literally all the time*? Nope. Nope nope nope.)
I hope the belly laugh was beneficial rather than harmful to the back! (I bet it was good for the rest of you, anyway!)

KC - well, these sores are giving him horrific fatigue, too. He doesn't look to me for novel sympathy with the fatigue, because he knows I have that occasionally, but I have never even seen pictures of this overwhelming head-to-toe eczema or allergy or whatever it is.
