This is our first yard-sign year. We put up a "register to vote!" one, which is probably a dead giveaway since exactly *one* party is enthusiastic about people registering to vote and voting, but, well, in theory everyone should be wanting eligible people to vote?

Also one for a local candidate, because I am hoping that 1. generally people don't know what party the state legislature candidates are from, and 2. name recognition does really go a long way towards people voting for someone.

Spouse realized that the more people in a red state/area saw Harris yard signs, the harder it would be to convince them that "absolutely no one" voted for her, but also yes, in our area that could well be considered a "please egg my house" sign, so we did not put one up. It is tricky, the balance between raising awareness and raising animosity!

KC - Neighbors are a strange social group. Strangers who know where you live.

Our two sets of immediate neighbors (who we trade garden produce/candles we're allergic to/houseplant starts with) know who we are enthusiastic about re: presidential election, but we occasionally get Carloads Of Young Hooligans doing knock-and-run-away sorts of stuff (also there was once a car parked on the lawn of an uninhabited house, with graffiti on it that suggested it had probably been stolen for a joy ride and ditched there?) so... nope.

But also yes, neighbors are strangers who know where you live, in some cases!

KC - we have had similar vandalism while the Sheriff lived on our street. The impudence.
