I think I've been to about thirty Barenaked Ladies concerts, in a variety of states and countries, and now they are playing sixteen miles from my house, and ... I'm not going. It's just not going to happen.
Gary absolutely cannot go. He can barely stand with a cane with everything this allergy is taking out of him. I could risk it, but I'm living with Gary and all his illnesses.
In addition, he might be past the covid vaccine and on the steroids by then, and his entire immune system will be squashed.
It's okay. It's not great, but if I wait a few days it will all be up on YouTube. Bummer though.
If you live in Saint Louis you should go in my place.
Aw, sorry! But I think you're making the right choice, immune-wise, per Gary's survival odds with everything going around. (assuming he does not go for the "hole up in a hotel during steroids" route, in which case go for it! But with a good mask on.)
("everything going around" = a friend just got viral meningitis, another friend's daughter got pneumonia and then covid, a bunch of people I know have an unidentified Crud, there's a... lot... available.)

KC - I know. It just feels like the end of my youth. I am going to an outdoor concert Friday.

YAY for the outdoor concert, but sorry about the End of Youth feelings; that is indeed a bummer, although I am uncertain as to the actual indicative powers re: youth/not, of *one* sensible-but-disappointing risk/reward decision.
Hopefully they'll be nearby next year.

KC - maybe that's the thing. Gary’s mot up for travel, and he might not ever be again. Road trips to see the band may be off the table.

Ohhhh. Yep, that is a different thing. (but... maybe *short* road trips? I don't know how close they usually get?)

KC - I don't really know what Gary's going to be like on the other side of this skin thing, but maybe someday he'll be up for a four hour road trip. I don't know how excited he'll be. Of course, I could go without him.

If he gets Actual Proper Medical Treatment for all the things that have gone awry for him, he will probably have more energy, anyway. Sometimes that means excitement and being up for things, other times it just means there's more energy to be stubborn. :-)

KC - I hope so. I t/think it’s going to take him a year to get better.
