Twenty years ago, in 2004, I was working at Elliot and escorting my niece to trail rides and Cradle of Filth concerts. I bought a new red Mini Cooper and discovered BNL. It feels like yesterday.
I suppose that twenty years from now, today will feel like just yesterday too. I hope so, anyway.
But as for present day, here I am, enjoying my 62nd birthday. I still like Mini Coopers, my niece, and BNL. In twenty years Gary will be 90, and I will be 82, so perhaps a self-driving Mini-Cooper will take us all to a BNL concert.
That is wild. I do think years compress as we age, and more so as we (and other things) stay in place (aka: if you went to live in Sweden - or even just a different house - for a year, it would feel longer, retrospectively, than an additional year in your same house/job/etc.).

KC - That would make sense. So many new memories to fit in there, instead of same couch, same spoons, same friends.

... I am a blithering idiot and read the first paragraph and was thinking so much about the 20 years part (it's been 20 years since spouse and I have been married, and a friend of ours had a mini cooper that was his pet - not his macho showoff car but his darling) that I *missed it was your birthday.* 2/10 points for reading comprehension, here, and a belated happy birthday to you!

KC - people at work will not be quiet about my birthday, so it evens out! No worries.
