Goldie has suddenly lost interest in our crepuscular play time. I understand that cats grow bored with their toys and crave fresh fake meat. He's been spending lots of time in the basement, possibly after the mice, so I bought this squeaky fake fur mouse.
Goldie was intrigued at first. Gently pawed at it. Showed enough interest that I picked it up by the tail, the better to dangle in his face, and it activated the squeak mechanism.
Terror in Goldie's eyes. TERROR. That cat ran across the room as if that toy mouse just whipped out an Uzi.
Gary tried to play with Goldie and the toy mouse later, got the same reaction, slam dunked the mouse in the trash can instantly.
I might buy another and surgically remove the squeak-maker.
