So, I am going in soon for the Bladder Botox, and I confess I am a bit nervous about it, but if I am to be intermittently out in the world I can't walk about clutching my crotch to keep the pee in.
Gary gives me gentle reminders that BOTOX IS POISON and I could do IRREVERSIBLE DAMAGE to my body.
I counter this with information.
They learned a lot about botulism in the 50's, and were able to separate the germ and the toxin it makes the body produce. Then in the 70's they began to use it to treat people with eye twitches or eye muscles that give them un-aligned vision.
The FDA approved it for bladder patients in 2013, over ten years ago. After ten years of practice, this urologist must have made all the mistakes on other people's bladders.
The only thing that concerns me now is that the procedure can cause a pain "like period cramps." I am hoping it's a pain like normal people's cramps, not like my teenage cramps, or like my endometrial biopsy. There's a local anesthetic involved too, so maybe that will help.
Still a bit nervous about it. Don't borrow trouble, though, right?

UPDATE : Doctor's office called and cancelled, saying the insurance says they have until the ninth to authorize this. However, the other insurance mess seems to be cleaned up.
