TeddyJ employees are complaining about being asked to return to work (albeit be-jeaned, and only for three days a week).
In response, Powers That Be seem to be indignant about the employee indignancy, and they hijacked the monthly diversity meeting to talk about gratitude.
They tried to be subtle. We were advised to stop saying "I have to" and replace that phrase with "I get to."
We were also advised to keep a daily journal. That one made me smile.
See, for things you have no control over, the "have to" vs. "get to" reframing advice is not too bad.
BUT if you're the person whose fiat is causing people to say "have to, uuuuugh" about something that is, in fact, optional, then maaaaybe you should change your fiat instead of just giving them the advice on how to cope with things which cannot be changed.
It's basically a "thoughts and prayers" after making a policy decision that resulted in the situation apparently bad enough to need "thoughts and prayers" and with zero inclination to change the policy decision. NOPE.
Journaling is good, though. Especially online journaling. :-)

KC - I can’t imagine the fiat (good word) being changed. They would have to back down on company culture, in which "face-to-face" is sacred.

While face-to-face does have legitimate value in many circumstances, 1. zoom does some face things, and 2. there are other things that are of value, like NOT COMMUTING and also not sharing germs (I keep hearing from friends about companies having big get-everyone-together meetings/parties and then half the staff coming down sick afterwards and... was this *worth it* especially when most of the employees didn't enjoy it or connect?). Harrumph.

KC - yes, health should be more important than company culture.
