Well, I've finally listened to the voice that said, twice now, "Move the Midpoint twist so it's 12% in." Things are much more interesting. All the exposition is compelling instead of mildly interesting. Building tension comes at you fully built.
Of course, that means the front half is bloated, but a lot of it can be cut (or if I have to, shifted).
And it's more of a challenge. I find myself working on it in doctor's offices and when I wake up.
And, even better, it happened just when I had forgotten all the words, and the new words are much better. And lord, faster. I'm straightening out a chapter a day.
I thought I would lose half the book when I shoved the middle to the start, but it doesn;t seem to be that way.
