I remember there was a show called "How It's Made," where they'd show the construction of a basic item like tissues or razor blades. It would fascinate me for the first two minutes and then I would get bored.
I do not get bored during the videos on the MyMechanics you tube channel. A man with enviable cuticles takes apart rusty devices and gives them a makeover. It's like How It's Made, only it's How It's Unmade and Then Restored to its Former Beauty.
I encourage you to scroll past anything shiny (in which he makes a wrench out of a nut for example) and instead scan for rust. Here's a good one, where a rusty vise turns into a shiny red vise.
