This will be my third hospice. Each time I find myself saying something brutal.
He had part of his stomach removed plus he's very nauseated, so this time it was, "Will he starve to death?" Brutal even by my standards.

It's a legitimate question! Maybe not a great question to ask while he's in the room unless you know he wants to know, and probably not one to say in a hopeful tone of voice unless the alternative to starving to death is worse [it well can be], but still: a legitimate question.
(but, also, marshal the gallows humor to your side if it helps)

KC - I assume now that Oxycodone and Dilaudid have enough calories to sustain life.
