I was out in the back yard and noticed our chimney siding no longer lines up at the top. Click the photo below to see how the edging is canted out, and also note that on the left side the nails are almost entirely out: you can see them silhouetted against the sky.
Not unrelated: there has been a party going on overhead. The sounds are skittering, thumping, sliding. No cheeping. Noises are at dawn and dusk.
Of course, the obvious culprit is raccoons, but certainly I'd hear them vocalizing. They chitter. Chimney swifts make noise, I suppose. Squirrels never shut up. You know what doesn't make noise? Bats.
Bats would be so cool. Because the repair person would just pull off the siding, shoo away the bats, we'd rehome them into a bat house, happy bats, happy husband.
That's Best Case, of course Worst Case is pest control racoonicide and fines levied and crying raccoon babies. We find out this week.
