ABC news thinks boosters for the immune compromised are on the way!
But even as I get excited from a selfish point of view, I would think getting all the young kids vaccinated before they go back to school would be the priority. The World Health Organization said “Let’s get other countries vaccinated before the US gets an extra dose, how about that?” which I appreciate.
So I’m torn. It’s not the right thing to do, big picture. I guess I’ll be okay no matter which way it goes.
I agree on the WHO thing, because SERIOUSLY FOLKS if we don't prioritize all the people being vaccinated, more variants will be rolling on through.
But also there is maybe the "these are not all mutually exclusive?" thing?
It's not totally a zero-sum, if we can increase production of the vaccines (particularly the vaccines that countries-which-can't-keep-Pfizer/Moderna-vaccines-cold-enough-long-enough need), *and* increase/start production of boosters *and* keep doing the research so we know when we've got a vaccine that is safe for kids.
(I mean, also each person solidly immune, in the US or anywhere else, is one more person who cannot personally breed a variant. I do grant that the Vaccine Resistant probably outnumber the Immune Challenged, unless 65+ people need an anti-delta booster, which our "breakthrough" hospitalization numbers seem to suggest may be the case, in which case... the Vaccine Resistant still probably outnumber the "yes, please, greater immunity thank you" group, but less ludicrously so?)

KC - yes -this news supposedly isn’t coming out for a month, so they should take a month to heal the world, those that can be healed. And also, yes, don’t make it an either-or.

I suspect it will take more than a month, but yes.
(I am really tired of all the zero-sum stuff. Sometimes it's valid! A hospital bed cannot be simultaneously occupied by someone who is only in the hospital because of a nasty car accident and someone who is only in the hospital because of covid! But with lots of things, we *could* actually work at multiple efforts, if we were willing to.)(and COME ON can we do masks *and* vaccination without people saying that advocating for one is admitting the other doesn't work? Because seriously, folks, this is ridiculous. Seatbelts *and* defensive driving; washing your hands *and* not leaving the potato salad at room temperature for 12 hours; we are not unfamiliar with applying multiple risk reduction strategies everywhere else in life, so...???)

KC - CNN promises a decision will be made for “some” immunocompromised people in the next 48 hours. Betting it will be the transplant patients. Yes, I agree, you can do All The Things.

Ah well damn. HIV/AIDS, cancer, and transplants. Perhaps we’ll be next.

And now, MS meds, but only biologics. I know interferon is a biological, I don’t think Mayzent is.

At some point, presumably, they'll get around to you, though? :-)
(from brief googling, it looks like Mayzent probably isn't a biologic, just because it's not coming up together - but no one says "it's not a biologic" and I definitely do not properly understand what it *is* so there is that.)

KC - well the doctor gets back Tuesday, and I am sure his staff can reply to my email. I know last month there was a study to see if going off meds would be helpful combined with a vaccine.
