My mom had this sundial, and as she did not grow old along with me, nor did either of her husbands, it is mine now.

See the shadow-caster, the triangular pointy thing … I looked it up, it’s called a “pointer” … see where it hits the 12:00 hour (represented by a 0 not an XII, don’t know how Mom let that slide)?

See how the edge of the pointer is not straight, instead there’s a curvy indentation just at toe height?

Picture stubbing your big toe on that indentation. Ow, right? Now, replay that scene, but slide the toes over a toe or so until what gets “stubbed” is the the toe groin right between your ring toe and your pinkie toe. Not just stubbed, stubbed and sliced so that there is blood (along with the dirt and a light coat of spray paint from an earlier project).
