My favorite time of year is fast approaching. No, not Thanksgiving. Not Christmas. It will soon be Retrospective Time again.
2020: The Year In Review. What do you think the big story will be?
Of course, this year, some CNN or Time intern has been tasked with finding the Non-COVID stories. Australia caught fire, there were hurricanes, and Herman Cains, and then we’re back to Covid again.
Perhaps they should have blank pages dedicated to what didn’t happen, like a big empty five page spread on the Olympics.
I can’t imagine what I’ll do Jan 1, when I usually my make own year in review. You know, the post filled with all the concerts and vacations. Sigh.
I like your idea of spreads of what didn't happen - maybe with the beginning of the preparations, then broken off into nothing.
For your blog post, you could list things you have learned and odd skills acquired this year? Or, in the empty spreads category, things you wanted to do or meant to do but that did not happen?
(but: I do think that coming back around to what good things, however ridiculous/tiny, we did get out of this year, is probably helpful for not Sinking Into Despair. So there is that.)

I'm not thinking much about January 1st, but I find myself wondering how things will feel in April or May of 2021. People (some) will be getting vaccines. We'll have a new administration in the White House. Maybe we will go days at a time without anything seeming crazy? Ready for life to be the same old, same old?

KC - I keep thinking of positive spins. For example, now that I only wear pajamas, I will have forgotten all my clothes so it will seems as if I have a whole new wardrobe.
Arlene - I pray for the day that CNN drops their habit of starting every hour with Breaking News. I want boredom.
