Every fall I hear the same thing. ”I try not to turn the heat on until November, but last night I broke down.” Then in the spring I hear, “I go as long as I can before I turn on the air conditioning, but even with all the fans on last night it was too hot.”
Why? Why, people? Does this give you some feeling of power over your environment, like you are tougher than the climate? Or do you feel guilty that you live in a house that has luxuries like central heat and air conditioning and you must punish yourself?
I don’t hear you saying, “I try to avoid using chapstick in the winter but last night I broke down” or “When summer comes, we don’t like to wear deodorant until the last possible minute.”
I say, there’s a pandemic, why suffer more? Treat yourself to the heat already.
