Two movies, two very different experiences
===============================
I went to see Stuber with Gary, a buddy comedy about an Uber driver named Stu, which caused Gary to remarked that if he drove for Uber he would be Goober.
It was very lightweight, but it made me laugh a few times. The dialog was repartee-paced banter with very little witty repartee, but there were some nice slapstick parts. You have to suspend disbelief, because in reality I think we all know any movie with gunfire would end during the first gun battle. I recommend it for video when you want to laugh a few times in ninety minutes.
===============================
Gary wasn’t interested in The Farewell, so I was delighted to see it with Friend Anne. There now, that was a movie. I had high expectations and they were met. At the climax of the movie I truly had no idea which way it would go. It's one of those movies when you drive home and want to read all the interviews with the writer and actors so you can consume more of the movie. (If you do see it, find the Fresh Air APR interview with the writer/director.)
