Here is where we last left the Face of Gary in the Roman Baths:
I scribbled away with the marine blue to get the values right. This is how it looks now - his face needs to get a wash of pink so it isn't so blue:
His mouth still isn't right. He just looks cranky, not pulling a face like he is in the original photo below:
The statue's mouth is wrong as well. I think there needs to be a lot more shadow on the statue's upper lip and a shade more on Gary's.
I meant this one to be much looser, more alla prima, but it didn't happen. Since I did that one teacup value study it appears that I don’t move on until I get the darks right. So that means just like the teacups, it won’t really be right until the highlights go on, and that’s the last step.
