I've been planning a staycation for early November. Not a budget staycation, a Living Beyond Our Means for a week staycation.
Do you know there are all kinds sof absurd things you can do in Saint Louis if you wanted to spend the money AND had not already missed the events?
You can fly a fighter jet and participate in an airplane dogfight, with no prior training.
You can drive a racecar.
You could eat at a cafe that only takes eight people a night.
Sadly, I have missed the deadline to get any of these things done in November. However:
I can make a reservation to see the Purina puppy farm.
I can visit the brewery, which I haven't done since sixth grade.
I can watch Regina Spektor and Lindsey Buckingham on consecutive days at the Pageant.
Sadly, I can't find any way to rent a Porsche, or any type of sportscar. I'm investigating speedboats.
What about the whole day at the poshest spa in town?
I've always wanted the "week with the luxury car" thing, although I don't tend to think much of them in real life.
Do you ice skate? Personal ice skating lessons?
Have a chef come in and make dinner for you and Gary at your house.
Have professional hair and makeup and get a great photographer to click away - see what Carol did at parisbreakfast. Of course, it always helps to have Paris as the background.
Puppy farm! Put me down for that!

I want to come and staycation with you.

Thinking of getting a puppy? I vote for a spa staycation. I'm planning on doing that very soon myself.

OMG, Regina Spektor and then Lindsey Buckingham? I don't have any vacation time until Thanksgiving week, otherwise I'd show up at your door.
Luxury car rentals are hard to find!

Yeah, I was looking this summer for a place where I could rent a luxury car for my boyfriend for his birthday week. Apparently, luxury car means Lincoln Town car in rental-speak.

Autumn - are you aware you will have to sleep till one every day? It isn't easy.
Hattie - what happens at a spa? Massages? Lotions? No thank you !
Tami - Gary was not familiar with LB. Shameful.
Amy in StL - it is SAD! If I were in LA it would not be a problem.

How the... did he just not know LB's *name*? Surely Gary knew Fleetwood Mac.

Queen: No. The point is you lie around doing nothing and having people bring you food and drink. You don't do anything you don't feel like doing but revel in sloth. At least that's how I do it! I don't care for massages and facials and all that stuff either.

Tami -yes he did. I don't think he knows LB is the 100th best guitarist in rock.
-Hattie - I'm sorry, but sloth is my life already.
Posted by: Thequeen | October 13, 2012 at 01:23 PM
Yes, but do you truly revel in it? That's what you want to aim for.
Posted by: Hattie | October 14, 2012 at 10:41 PM
Hattie - Only when it's Gary fetching me beverages. I need to work on my reveling.
